Council Committees

The work of the Town Council is conducted by the Council, its officers, committees, working parties and external groups.  The Council and its committees and groups are as follows:-

Town Council

Sixteen
councillors, each representing the entire town.  The Council meets each month, usually on the second Tuesday.  Council meetings are open to the press and the public except where items of a confidential nature need to be dealt with.  Such items are normally left until the end of the meeting to minimise the inconvenience to members of the public.  The public are encouraged to participate at the appropriate part of Council meetings subject to advanced notice.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee has 4 members and deals with

  • Accounts
  • Budgets
  • Financial Reporting

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and the leaders of the main working groups.

Working Groups

Working Groups include:-

  • Strategy Working group
  • Communications Working group
  • Highways Working group
  • Allotments Working Group - 4 members
  • Bowls and Tennis Club Working Group - 5 members
  • Christmas Lights Working Group - 2 members
  • Property Working Group - 7 members - The council's property is managed by the Council's retained Consultant Carter Jonas assisted by the Clerk and the Council Member for Property, currently Cllr Victoria Edwards.  See also the Property page.
  • Environment Working Group - 6 members - The council's environmental interests are managed by the Clerk with assistance from members of the Environment Working Group.  See also the Environment page.  The council's environmental interests cover cemeteries, playgrounds, the Watermeadows and OWL Nature Reserve
  • Community Centre Working Group - 7 members
