The work of the Town Council is conducted by the Council, its officers, committees, working parties and external groups.  The Council and its committees and groups are as follows:-

Town Council

Thirteen councillors, each representing the entire town.  The Council meets each month, usually on the second Tuesday.  Council meetings are open to the press and the public except where items of a confidential nature need to be dealt with.  Such items are normally left until the end of the meeting to minimise the inconvenience to members of the public.  The public are encouraged to participate at the appropriate part of Council meetings subject to advanced notice.

Mayor's Committee

The Mayor's Committee has 7
members and deals with

  • Urgent business
  • Staff matters
  • Standing Orders
  • Codes of Conduct
  • Council Structures and Committees

    The Communications Group is a sub-committee of the Mayor's Committee dealing with Newsletters and other public relations issues

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee has 7 members and deals with

  • Accounts
  • Budgets
  • Financial Reporting
     

Strategy Committee

The Strategy Committee has 7 members and deals with

  • Parish Plan
  • Traffic and Highways
  • Risk Assessment
  • Affordable Housing

Property

The council's property is managed by the Clerk with Member assistance from the Council Member for Property, currently Cllr Brian Yoxall.  See also the Property page.

Environment

The council's environmental interests are managed by the Clerk with Member assistance from the Council Member for Environment, currently Cllr Philip Redpath.  See also the Environment page.  The council's environmental interests cover the following:-

  • Cemeteries,
  • Playgrounds and
  • Watermeadows and OWL nature reserve

Working Groups

Working Groups include:-

  • Woodstock in Bloom – 3 member
  • Watermeadows Working Group - 5 members - dealing with Ecology, Management Plan, Safety, Routine Maintenance, and Voluntary Action
  • Cemeteries Health and Safety Group
  • Christmas Lights Group
  • Town Plan Steering group
  • Property Working Group
  • Environment Working Group
