Fairtrade

Woodstock Town Council has resolved to work towards becoming a Fairtrade
Town. We have a head start because there are already many groups in
the town who use Fairtrade products and promote them. Both our
schools, the museum, and the churches use Fairtrade products and the business
group Wake Up to Woodstock has supported the concept. Blenheim Palace
offers Fairtrade products in its restaurants and cafeterias. For more
information, visit www.fairtrade.org
Our next steps are to encourage a more positive marketing of Fairtrade
products, particularly, but not exclusively, in the towns shops, pubs,
hotels, restaurants and shops. We want to see the Fairtrade logo on
shop windows and on shop shelves and on menus. We have also published a
leaflet and directory of Fairtrade outlets in the town which is freely available at
information points.
Pictured is a Fairtrade coffee
morning held in March 2009 in the town hall to raise awareness of the
campaign.
