Help
Woodstock Town Council spend £10,000!
Residents will recall that following the Woodstock @ 900
celebrations in 2010 we have an accumulated legacy fund of a
little in excess of £10,000. The Town Council would
welcome ideas from town residents as to how this money might
best be spent to provide something of lasting value for
Woodstock. Why not drop us a line at the Town Hall?

Woodstock Town Council's new
rules on Public Participation
The town council has changed its
standing orders on the rights of residents to address the
Council. Now, the public can speak on any topic relevant
to the affairs of the Council whether or not it is on the
agenda. A day's notice must be given to the Clerk.
The Council hopes that this will encourage people to air their
views on matters of local interest.

Woodstock is a town about seven miles to the north
of Oxford City. It is a small market town with a population of some
2600 people. It lies within
West Oxfordshire District Council and the administrative County of
Oxfordshire. Its main
tourist attraction is
Blenheim Palace, home of the
Dukes of Marlborough since 1722 and a World Heritage site. The
Oxfordshire
Museum, also based in Woodstock, tells the story of Oxfordshire
through 11 galleries and many exhibitions featuring history, popular
culture, contemporary arts and crafts throughout the year.
Woodstock is also an important town in its own
right, with an enviable range of quality shops, hotels, restaurants and
pubs. As a place to live it is unsurpassed with over 35 active
clubs, societies and other
community groups, two highly rated schools, a library,
an outdoor swimming pool, and miles of glorious open countryside spreading
north, east and west. The Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural
beauty is just a couple of miles away, Shakespeare's Stratford upon Avon
less than an hour's drive, and the "wool" towns of Chipping Norton and
Witney just twenty minutes by car or bus. The historic university city of
Oxford is just 30 minutes away by buses that run every half hour during
the daytime. |
